Biloxi football star Elijah Sabbatini has been a high value recruit for a long time. But after getting the offer of a lifetime, it took him less than a week to make his commitment.

Sabbatini made it official with Ole Miss exactly one week ago, just five days after getting the call from the Rebels.

Despite having 20 offers total, that was Sabbatini’s very first one from an SEC school.

Sabbatini tells News 25 his recruitment is shut down and that he’s 100 percent committed to Ole Miss.

He’ll be heading up to Oxford as a defensive back despite playing both ways for the Indians.

Sabbatini says his original plan was to commit during the middle of the season, but that plan has obviously changed. “I kind of was just waiting on like any type of close SEC offer, and when they called I was like this is it. Because I could just tell, like this had to be the one. It’s gotten a lot of stress off of me, I can say that. Cause all of these – like everywhere I go I’d be – where you going? Where you going? And now I can finally say where I’m going, and it just feels a lot better to know what’s going on.”

Sabbatini says he’ll make an official visit once the dead period is over with, but he was in attendance for last year’s dramatic Egg Bowl finish in Starkville.

The rising senior is the sixth commitment for the Ole Miss class of 2021.
