Saturday afternoon Magnolia MOPAR caravanned to the Kiln to bring toiletries to the Coast Guard.
While the local group loves their cars, its main purpose is to serve others and give back. The members’ sleek cars are simply what they have in common.
Theresa Fortenberry, the member that spearheaded the drive, also has a special connection to the Kiln Coast Guard Base. “Well I have a cousin that’s in the Coast Guard and I’ve seen him do several things. He’s been on television before with saving people during Katrina, helping a lady fold a flag they had given her for her husband because he had passed away. So I felt like, you know, at this time we could do something to give back to something, you know, that he serves in. So that was my reason for giving back.”
MOPAR stands for ‘making our plans a reality.”
