Louisiana Knights at MGM Park “Perfect Marriage”

Just because the Biloxi Shuckers haven’t played a game in 2020 doesn’t mean MGM Park isn’t going to good use.

Friday’s slate of games kicked off the Louisiana Knights’ third weekend at the home of the Shuckers where there are no restrictions on the college recruiting dead period which was extended due to COVID-19, otherwise keeping the Knights from playing at other schools over the summer.

From East Texas to Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and the Florida Panhandle, the Knights have 24 high school teams and 125 players currently committed or signed with college programs and they’re all here in Biloxi. Louisiana Knights Program Advisor Karr Shannon said, “For us it was an opportunity to find a place for our kids to play. And then with the Shuckers not being able to fill their stadium because Minor League Baseball was on hold, it was a perfect marriage. And it really came together quickly. We had a few intricacies to work out. But it’s been a great opportunity for our kids, our parents and for the Shuckers.”

As of now, the Knights are scheduled to play at MGM Park through Sunday, July 28th.
