HARRISON COUNTY, Miss. (WXXV) — An SUV drove off the interstate Tuesday evening, hit several trees and burst into flames.
The incident happened in the westbound lanes of Interstate 10 near the 29 mile marker, just before the Long Beach/Pass Christian Exit. Fire units of the Harrison County Fire Rescue responded to the scene.
The driver of the SUV was able to escape the crash and the fire unharmed.
According to Harrison County Fire Chief Pat Sullivan, a punctured fuel tank caused problems in extinguishing the fire as gasoline fed the flames.
The Mississippi Highway Patrol also responded to the accident.
