Home of many swim meets, classes, and a place where people can exercise and have fun, the Biloxi Natatorium is back open today.
The natatorium opened at 5 a.m. and a steady stream of dedicated swimmers got to hop in the pool early this morning.
There are new safety precautions in place to keep everyone healthy. The natatorium is open for adult swimming only and only one person is allowed per lane.
The lobby, showers, and locker room are all closed for the time being so you will have to arrive and leave in your swimsuit. Restrooms are available for emergencies only.
Officials with the natatorium say they are happy to be back open to serve their community. Biloxi Parks and Recreation Superintendent Jamie Lee said, “Swimming is a unique type of activity. You can really do it at any age. It is very low impact and very great for all parts of your body. We felt that this was something we needed to get back open as soon as possible to provide for our patrons who come to utilize this facility.”
If you are planning to go to the natatorium, employees say it is a good idea to call ahead to make sure you will be able to get a lane.
The pool will be open from 5 a.m. to 8 p.m. on weekdays.
