Ole Miss schedules home-and-home with South Alabama

The Ole Miss football program will be playing a Sun Belt school on the road for the first time in more than two decades and more than nine years from now.

Today, it was announced the Rebels will be playing a home-and-home against South Alabama, starting in 2028.

Ole Miss will host the Jaguars on September 2nd of that year before making the return trip to Mobile on September 1st, 2029.

The last time the Rebels played a Sun Belt team away from the Vaught was 2001 and only played USA one other time in 2017, a 47-27 home win.

A native of Pass Christian and a St. Stanislaus alum, Jeff Haeger comes to News 25 from right in our backyard. He most recently spent more than three years working as the sports reporter for WHLT-TV in Hattiesburg, where he provided extensive coverage of his alma mater, The University of Southern Mississippi. At Southern Miss, Jeff was a member of the Honors College and graduated with a B.A. degree in Broadcast Journalism with a minor in Spanish. He also wrote for USM's award-winning school newspaper, The Student Printz, where he won first place for Best Sports Story in 2013.
