We have a few active wildfires in South MS today, and our hot weather with low humidity isn’t helping firefighters. A cold front did move through last night, but rain never reached the Gulf Coast.
HOWEVER, THE COOLER DRIER AIR ASSOCIATED WITH THAT FRONT IS MOVING IN.
That means we’ll see a much cooler night ahead with lows falling into the low 50s. Winds will remain northerly through the night but will shift southerly tomorrow afternoon. Expect a much cooler high than we’ve seen in a few days by then as well, near 75 degrees. Conditions remain clear and cooler through tomorrow night and into Friday morning, but that’s where things change quickly.
ANOTHER FRONT IS MOVING IN, SO EXPECT A RAPID INFLUX OF WARM, HUMID AIR THROUGH FRIDAY AFTERNOON.
This will bring showers and even possible thunderstorms by Friday evening, something we desperately need to battle these hot & dry conditions. Clouds and rain clear out by Saturday morning, and remain gone through Mother’s Day and into next week.
