Healthcare professionals throughout the Coast got a special thanks Tuesday night.
The 403rd Wing of the U.S. Air Force Reserve conducted what they are calling “Hover for Heroes.”
The service members flew over Garden Park Medical, Gulfport Memorial Hospital, Gulf Coast Veterans Healthcare System, Keesler Air Force Base Medical Center, Merit Health in Biloxi, and the Ocean Springs Hospital.
It was a tribute to all healthcare workers, first responders, and essential personnel battling the spread of COVID-19.
Leadership at Gulfport Memorial Hospital says this was quite the treat for those on the front lines of this pandemic. Memorial Hospital Vice President of Clinic Operations Matt Walker said, “This feels pretty cool. We’re here to serve our community and this type of giving back from our armed services is pretty amazing.”
Memorial Hospital Chief Administrative Officer April LaFontaine said, “It’s such a great motivator for our staff for people to recognize our hard work and their dedication on the front lines and not just the providers and the caregivers, but all of the support staff for the hospital. It’s just really incredible.”
The 403rd Wing includes the 815th Flying Jennies and the A.F. Reserve Hurricane Hunters.
