Long Beach will have a new head boys basketball coach pacing the sidelines at the start of next season.
Brandon Cobb tells News 25 he’s resigned from his post after two years on the job to accept another position outside of coaching.
Coach Cobb burst onto the scene during his first season, leading the Bearcats to a 14 win improvement from the year before en route to a Region 8 Class 5A championship, an Elite 8 appearance, and Coach of the Year honors in the district.
Overall, the St. Stanislaus alum was 33-26 during his time at Long Beach and is still set to coach in this year’s Mississippi North-South All-Star game following its indefinite postponement due to the Coronavirus.
Cobb goes on to tell News 25 “I’m thankful for the opportunity I was given to lead the program. I appreciate all the support I received from the school, administration, and community. I will forever cherish the bonds created with my players and I appreciate all of their hard work.”
Cobb’s former position is officially open for interested applicants.
