Artwork made by veterans is currently on display at the Biloxi Veterans Affairs Medical Center Recreation Hall.
Veteran-created art including paintings, drawings, photos, and crafts are on display as a part of the 2020 Gulf Coast Veterans Healthcare System’s Creative Arts Competition. This morning, Biloxi area artists judged the competition.
Winning pieces are eligible for the National Veterans Creative Arts Festival. Recreation Therapy Supervisor Laura Throop said, “Well, it is just a way for them to express themselves. For a lot of them, writing, art, dance, these are just ways they are able to express themselves.”
Tomorrow the second part of the competition takes place at the recreation hall with music, singing, and dramatic performances scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. Anyone is welcome to attend the art festival.
