Students at Popp’s Ferry and North Bay Elementary schools in Biloxi got a taste of Mardi Gras at school today.
Students, parents, and staff lined up along the Mardi Gras parade route to catch colorful throws with their friends.
The parade at North Bay also serves as a celebration of the school’s St. Jude fundraiser, which raised over $7,000 this year.
Interim Principal Allison Merit says the fundraiser and parade are fun and important ways to show students the importance of being helpful. “That’s the reason we do it, to show our kids that other people are important and it is important that they are part of the community and they take care of others.”
The parade is an annual tradition each year for Mardi Gras at North Bay.
