Students at Gulfport High School had a taste of the ‘real world’ today.
Juniors learned how to ‘advance in finance’ with lessons on personal banking, credit and lending, investing, taxes, and much more.
Seniors received great interview practice, counseling for post-graduation, and sessions to help with proper dress, along with personal marketing and business tips through the Rising Stars event.
This is all an effort to provide students with the essential skills for the next chapter of their lives. Career Pathway Specialist Sandy East said, “The skills we are giving them are the questions that everybody gets asked when they have an interview. Tell me about yourself, where do you see yourself in five years, what are your strengths and weaknesses. We hope by having an opportunity to sit down with business partners and get that experience, when they do go the next level, whether it be to college, to a job, to the military, they won’t be nervous.”
Around 700 students were able to participate in this year’s event.
