One of Jackson County’s accomplished student athletes is taking her skills on the soccer pitch to the next level.
Vancleave High’s Sydney Salter signed her national letter of intent today in front of family and teammates to play soccer for the University of South Alabama.
In addition to her performance on the field and volleyball court, Salter excels in the classroom as well. She was named a 2019 winner for the Heisman High School Scholarship for Mississippi and maintains a 4.0 GPA as well.
As she moves on to her next chapter, Salter says the memories she’s made athletically at Vancleave will stay with her a long time. “It’ll be amazing. I’ll have, you know, with volleyball we’ll have three rings to remember it by. Soccer, we have all these school records we’ve broken and so I think overall it’s just been a great experience.”
While at South Alabama Sydney also plans to study chemical engineering.
