Dense fog continues across the coast of South Mississippi and over the marine areas. A Dense Fog Advisory for Hancock, Harrison, and Jackson Counties has been extended until 2:00 p.m.
Areas that are not dealing with fog are still dealing with overcast skies and warm temperatures. Highs today will reach the mid 70s across much of the area and rain chances this afternoon are about 30 to 40 percent.
Overnight, rain chances increase to around 60 to 70 percent as a line of showers and thunderstorms moves across the region ahead of a cold front. There is a low-end risk, threat level 1 out of 5, for severe weather, according to the Storm Prediction Center.
Some rain may linger into Thursday as temperatures drop into the lower 60s during the day.
Sunny skies return by Friday as a much cooler, drier air mass settles in for a couple days.
