High School Girls Soccer: Gulfport Lady Admirals wins 6A State Championship


On the girls side, Gulfport taking on Clinton in the 6A finals, still pitching a post-season shutout across its first three games.

Lady Admirals win 3-1. This is the program’s second state championship and it’s first since the 2008 squad.

Gulfport ends the season undefeated at 21-0-4 and only loses three seniors.

From the 4A boys ranks, St. Stanislaus captures its 10th state title by way of a 4-1 triumph over Newton County. The Rock-a-Chaws scored four unanswered goals in the second half to claim their fifth gold ball in the last seven years.

Not so lucky in the 5A ranks for both guys and girls, Long Beach falling to Center Hill 2-1 and then East Central losing to Lafayette by the same score.

And the final high school soccer of the season tonight, with the Coast All-Star Games going on over at Ocean Springs.

It both cases, it’s the east side coming up victorious, guys beating the west 3-1 and the ladies taking care of business in the form of a 1-0 shutout.
