Calling all women across the Coast: Habitat for Humanity of the Mississippi Gulf Coast needs your help to make a difference in the community.
Habitat for Humanity is hosting its annual Women Build Fundraiser and is looking for volunteers. Local ladies break off into teams of seven and are instrumental with building a Habitat home while raising funds to support the Habitat’s mission.
The event is designed to bring together Coast women with the more than 17,000 other volunteers across the country.
Director of Resource Development Lindsay Avery says she’s excited to get the project underway. “What we’ve seen over the years of doing this by somebody having affordable, quality, safe place to live is it has a lasting impact. We revisited families ten years down the road and we see that their families have continued on to higher education and they’re considering pursuing higher education or they’ve taken a different career path and often times they acknowledge that the quality of life that they have wouldn’t be the same without a program like Habitat.”
Women Build 2020 will accept volunteers throughout the building process which is March through May.
