This weekend marks the opening of a new and one-of-a-kind exhibit at the Walter Anderson Museum of Art.
‘The Soul to Dare’ opened at the museum on Saturday and highlights women artists across the Mississippi Gulf Coast.
Artwork from 11 members of the South Mississippi Arts League is on display at the exhibit and aims to highlight their artistic vision.
Museum Director Julian Rankin says the exhibit is a way for the Walter Anderson Museum to celebrate life on the Gulf Coast and the women artists who capture it. “We find, from our perspective as the museum here, that there’s so much happening in our backyards and all of these cities and towns and areas in the South Mississippi region that we want to spotlight what’s happening beyond our walls.”
The exhibit runs through March 30th with a public reception being held at the museum with the artists on Sunday, March 8th from 2 to 4 p.m.
