The talent went indoors to the Coast Coliseum for the annual ‘Battle of the Bands.’

High schools and colleges from across Mississippi, Alabama, and Louisiana filled up the Coliseum for a tradition that has been taking place for more than 25 years.

An event organizer calls this event a celebration for Martin Luther King Jr. Day and an anchor for the Gulf Coast. Alcorn State University Band Director Dr. Everson Martin said, “It takes us about four hours to get here and like I said we do this every year it has become a tradition for us. It is an early start in the morning and I know the kids are real cold, but we really love this event. It has become a tradition. The kids are really looking forward to it and we enjoy it.”

If you missed out this year, the students will be back at the Coliseum again next MLK Day.
