Jackson Co. Sheriff’s Dept.: “Do not leave any valuables in plain view in your vehicles.”

JACKSON COUNTY, Miss. (WXXV) — Law enforcement in South Mississippi issued a warning to residents on social media this week.

The notice is specifically directed at citizens within the Harleston and Hurley communities.

According to a post by the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department on Facebook, multiple vehicle burglaries have occurred in these areas within the last week.

The statement reports that two men are breaking into vehicles that have visible valuable items inside, such as purses.

The post says, “If the vehicle is locked, they break the window to get in. DO NOT LEAVE ANY VALUABLES IN PLAIN VIEW IN YOUR VEHICLES.”
