The Harrison County Court House was overrun with area students today.
The Harrison County Junior Leadership Program allows students throughout the county to meet local leadership and learn about their day to day operations.
Students heard from District Attorney Joel Smith, Harrison County Sheriff Troy Peterson, and Circuit Clerk Connie Ladner.
Students were excited to have this chance to learn about their local government. “I think it really gives an advantage when I get older to actually know what I need to do like for voting. It gives me information that my peers wouldn’t have.”
The youth leadership was established in 2001 and has since graduated more than 900 students from the program.
