An investigation is underway into a suspicious fire in Harrison County.
According to officials, a fire broke out at a vacant, single-wide mobile home early Monday afternoon.
When firefighters arrived, the structure was engulfed in flames, and parts of the trailer were already collapsing.
The Harrison County Road Department was called to bring in additional equipment to remove some of the mobile home’s roofing so fire fighters could fully extinguish the fire.
The fire marshal and Harrison County Sheriff’s Department are now assisting with the investigation into what caused the fire.
Harrison County Fire Chief Pat Sullivan said, “Right now it’s suspicious in nature. Right now it appears to be arson. There [are] indicators that there was no power to the building, and there are indicators that it was suspicious in nature.”
The investigation is still underway and we will provide updates as we learn more.
