Biloxi infrastructure update

Some major infrastructure projects are nearing completion in East Biloxi as we move through 2020.

Right before Christmas work crews laid down the last base course of asphalt on the north end of Forrest Avenue and railroad tracks.

Now workers will finish up driveways and sidewalks in that area while they await city approval to apply the final coat of asphalt on the 55 mile project in that area.

South of the railroad tracks, crews have been busy installing a water line on Howard Avenue which has resulted in some lane closures.

Work on that project is planned to be complete before the Mardi Gras festivities in February.

Cecilia Dobbs Walton with the City of Biloxi says the projects replace outdated systems in the city. “By replacing it, upgrading the system can help things to flow better, help cause less of issues with the water, sewage, and drainage throughout the city. So, it could just make a better place for the City of Biloxi for the residents, for the visitors.”
