Three schools in the Harrison County School District are helping give foster children in our community a Merry Christmas.
Woolmarket Elementary, D’Iberville Elementary, and North Woolmarket Elementary and Middle School have been collecting toys for about two and a half weeks.
Today, they loaded the over 550 new toys, including 11 bikes that were donated in a school bus.
From there, they hand delivered the toys to the Harrison County Department of Child Protective Services in Gulfport.
This effort was all thanks to the Beta Club Members at Woolmarket Elementary. Sixth grader Isabelle Smith said, “We wanted to do this in order to give these kids a happy Christmas and it’s an important thing to do because we get to have a great Christmas with our parents and these kids don’t and so doing little things like this in our community makes a difference.”
The toys will now be distributed to foster children of all ages within Harrison County.
