Tonight, clear skies and chilly again. Lows will be in the mid 30s along the coast, but inland areas (generally north of I-10) will dip into the lower 30s. Only a light freeze is expected for some areas tonight, but it would still be a good idea to keeps your plants covered and pets indoors.
On Friday temperatures will get back into the mid to upper 50s. Cloud cover will increase throughout the day, ahead of a low pressure system over the Gulf of Mexico that will bring rain into the weekend.
Where the Gulf low positions itself will determine just how much rain we get going into the weekend. Right now, most models show it heading toward the northeaster Gulf of Mexico, and only producing 1-2 inches of rain for South Mississippi. If the low tracks closer to the central Gulf Coast, rain totals could be higher.
Rain chances will be at 70-80 percent for Saturday and Sunday as temperatures stay cool in the 50s. Next week, we will gradually warm up under partly cloudy skies.
