One Coast organization is on a mission to help the senior shelter pets this holiday season.
Frets for Pets is hosting its fifth annual ‘Adopt a Mascot.” This project is to raise funds to help discount the adoption fees for pets that have called a shelter home for far too long.
This fundraiser benefits the Humane Society of South Mississippi as well as other animal shelters in the area with pets that have spent years in shelter care.
Organization Founder Dimitri Curtis says this is a cause he hopes everyone can get behind. “There are a lot of animals around here and unfortunately a lot of the older ones don’t get the attention the puppies and kittens get. It’s another way for us to reach out and help the other animals in the shelters around here. We do the event in the summer time but this is another way to help out the rest of the year and not just the one month of the year.”
The summer event is a benefit concert in August held at the Juke Joint in Ocean Springs. Those proceeds also go to helping pets find forever homes.
