USM Football: Seven players tabbed on first/second teams


More post-season recognition being handed down at Southern Miss in the form of seven All-Conference USA selections.

Three of those are first-team players, starting with junior Wide Receiver Quez Watkins, who led the league with more than 100 yards per game and a team high five touchdown catches.

On the other side of the ball, senior Defensive Back DQ Thomas led the team with three interceptions and 14 tackles for loss.

And finally sophomore Special Teams wizard Jaylond Adams tied both the single-season and school record with two kick returns for touchdowns.

Others recognized on the second team are Offensive Lineman Drake Dorbeck, Wide Receiver Tim Jones, hailing from Biloxi High School, Defensive Tackle Demarrio Smith, and Adams again as a punt returner.
