The Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College Football program is less than 72 hours away from taking center stage in the NJCAA National Championship game.

This morning, the Bulldogs went wheels up on their way to Pittsburgh, Kansas where they’ll play Lackawanna College at 5 p.m. Thursday.

If Gulf Coast is able to complete it’s perfect season and win that game, second year Head Coach Jack Wright will become just the second-ever junior college coach to win a national title at two different schools. “I just look back, especially at my four years as a head coach and I’ve been incredibly blessed with the talent that I’ve coached. One name from before is Gardner Minshew. And now Chance Lovertich. And the Regulators on defense. And so I would love to sit here and tell you I want to take some credit as a coach. The only thing I’ll take credit for is having these guys here.”

Coach Wright also won it all back in 2015 at Northwest Mississippi Community College. With a win on Thursday he would join the ranks of Dick Foster, who accomplished the double dip at Fort Scott, Kansas in 1970 and Coffeyville, Kansas in 1983.
