This afternoon will mark a fresh start for some sea turtles. Today, between 2:30 and 3 pm, the Institute for Marine Mammal Studies, or IMMS, in Gulfport, and the DMR, will be releasing two stranded sea turtles rehabilitated by IMMS into the Mississippi Sound, on the beach, next to the Biloxi Light House across from the Biloxi Visitor’s Center.
Public officials will be on hand to discuss the significance of the release in light of the adverse effects of the Mississippi River water spill over into the Sound from the Bonnet Carre Spillway. The public is invited to attend. Tune in later today to News 25 for the full story.
