While our three coastal county’s convenience stores have seen a steady flow of residents buying scratch-off lottery tickets today, the sales stretch throughout the state including the remaining cities in our six southern counties.
Lucedale Mayor Darwin Nelson dropped by our studio this morning as the sales began and tells News 25 how he expects the Mississippi Lottery to affect the city. “I’m real curious to see. We’re a very conservative area. We’re what you would call a very red county. I don’t think it’ll be as extensive as what you would see in Harrison or Jackson counties, but we’re certainly hoping to see some benefits from that. There’s no reason why we shouldn’t.”
It all comes just in time for the holidays. Looking ahead to next month, Mayor Nelson invites everyone to come out to the city of Lucedale December 6th for their annual Christmas tree lighting.
December 7th you can head out to the Christmas Parade at 6 p.m., one of the biggest parades in the state!
