Healthcare professionals want you to know we are in the heart of flu season and each season is different than the last.
That’s why it is important to get the flu shot.
After getting the shot, it takes about two weeks for antibodies to form. That’s why it’s best to get vaccinated before the virus spreads. Carissa Frederick with Diamondhead Urgent Care said, “If you do get the flu shot and you do become ill with the flu, it’s actually been shown to cut down on the severity of the illness if you get the vaccine beforehand.”
The Center for Disease Control reports those who received a shot reduce the risk of having to go to the doctor with the flu by 40 percent.
