This Saturday, you and your whole family can get into the holiday spirit on the west end of Howard Avenue.
Howard Avenue’s West End Merchants are hosting a ‘Polar Express Holiday Open House.’ The event will feature readings of the ‘Polar Express’ book, photo opportunities with Santa along with hot chocolate and cookies.
All of the West End Merchants on Howard Avenue will be participating in this event and running specials in their stores.
Business owners tell News 25 that the West End of Howard Avenue was hit hard during construction and they are hoping this event will generate some attention for the area. D. Batia Interiors Owner Debbie Batia said, “We really have struggled with the street closings that went on for a couple of years now on our end. People forgot about us so we are trying to get people to realize that we are up and running. We have all sorts of new shops and restaurants and wonderful places to come down here on West Howard and they really need to come check us out.”
The shops open at 10 a.m. on Saturday. Santa will be doing a parade down the street at 11 a.m., starting in front of the fire museum.
