The annual Mississippi Restoration Summit held an open house and community conversations event.
The public was invited to the open house that featured representatives from various local and federal organizations, all with the goal of educating the public on the old and new projects.
Also on tap was a community conversation, a roundtable discussion for anyone hoping to speak their mind directly to representatives from MDEQ.
MDEQ Chief of Staff Chris Wells tells News 25 that the community conversation is one of their most critical events at the summit. “We want to do our part to help restore the ecology and the economy of the Coast. What we don’t want to do is to make unilateral decisions that effect the people that live, work, and recreate down here, we want to hear from them and give them an opportunity to give us input and feedback on the work that we’re doing and the work that they would like to see us do.”
