One South Mississippi university is continuing to ramp up its film and tourism programs as the need for people trained for these industries continues to grow throughout our state.
The Mississippi Development Authority (MDA) includes tourism and film among its target sectors right now, with MDA leaders saying both industries are continuing to grow here in the Magnolia State.
The University of Southern Mississippi has been training people for decades through its film program at the Gulf Park Campus in Long Beach.
USM has also long offered a hospitality and tourism management program that cultivates advanced professional skills and operational capabilities for success in this industry.
USM is one of only a few institutions in the nation that offers as Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in Hospitality and Tourism Management with three emphasis areas: hotel, casino and resort management, food and beverage management, and event management.
USM also provides the option of pursuing a Casino Management Certificate that is endorsed by the Mississippi Casino Operators Association.
