Students and staff in the Harrison County School District were decked out in pink from head to toe today for a good cause.
The district’s ‘Pink out Day’ is in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month and highlighting early detection and screenings.
Kids and adults at Orange Grove Elementary wore pink shirts, bows, and even shoes to school in support of those fighting breast cancer.
Orange Grove Instructional Literacy Coach and breast cancer survivor Denise Briggs says teaching kids to be health-aware is important. “It’s important for them to know about self-care. Taking care of yourself and making sure that you’re getting, making your appointments, and getting all the testing done that you need to have done.”
