Gulfport police are going pink for ‘Breast Cancer Awareness’ Month.
You might have seen the new pink Gulfport police cruisers driving around. Now, they are adding even more pink to their department.
The Gulfport Police Department is participating in the ‘Pink Patch Project.’ This national project will have officers from around the country wearing pink badges for special events throughout the month of October.
Sgt. James Griffin with the Gulfport PD tells News 25 that this project hits close to home for the department. “Well breast cancer affects all of us. We’ve had officers who have been affected by it, the family members, close friends, so it affects all of us. We want the public to be aware that it is a disease that with early detection we can do our part to eliminate it if possible but early detection is best.”
If you would like to participate in the pink fun, call the Gulfport Police Department to have one of the pink police cruisers show up to your event.
