‘Safe Exchange Zones’ coming to D’Iberville

On Monday, officials broke ground on the brand new police headquarters in D’Iberville.

This new state of the art police building will include a feature that aims to keep everyone safe when meeting up to do trades.

These areas will be called ‘safe exchange zones’ and they will be located out in front of the police station. Police Chief Wayne Payne said, “Items that they may have purchased or that they are going to buy or sell off the internet, they can come there and do that. It’s a safe place. It’s going to be recorded and it’s going to be right here at the police station.”

The new building is expected to be complete within the next 12 to 14 months.
