Good Mississippi music is the staple of a Coast festival celebrating its 10th anniversary over the weekend.
The Mississippi Songwriters Festival featured performances from more than 100 national, local, and regional songwriters at numerous venues across Jackson and Harrison counties.
Attendees had a chance to hear a wide range of genres known across Mississippi, including blues, country, and rock music.
Darwin Nelson with the Mississippi Songwriters Alliance tells News 25 the annual event gets bigger each year.
“We wanted to connect with some people who had had success in Nashville, connect with our local writers, and our local and regional writers has grown from about 15 in 2010 to over a hundred this year. Our pros that we bring down from Nashville have grown to about 25 so it’s gotten pretty big.”
The festival ended with a grand finale concert in Ocean Springs.
