Today marks day one in the recovery process for Saints Quarterback Drew Brees.
Brees underwent surgery today in Los Angeles for a torn ligament in his thumb. The procedure was done by Dr. Steven Shin, who also repaired a torn ligament in the thumb of two-time AL MVP Mike Trout.
While there hasn’t been an official time-frame for Brees’ return, the Saints can expect to be without Brees for at least six weeks with the hopes of having him back week 10 versus Atlanta.
Now, stepping into the spotlight is backup quarterback Teddy Bridgewater, who is the expected starter for New Orleans. “You know, it’s Wednesday. We’re still installing our game plan and putting things together, but I can say that getting out there last week just prepared me, got my feet wet again. I’m excited going into this game.”
Brees posted a photo of him and his wife, Britney, to his Instagram earlier as he headed off into surgery, mentioning that this how Britney gets to spend her birthday.
