In an effort to better protect children, the Long Beach School District held a cyber safety event for parents.
The ‘Protect Young Eyes’ organization held a free seminar, detailing the different apps, websites, and social media trends that children are gravitating towards. The discussion focused on the different ways that parents can better monitor their children’s safety with technology.
Long Beach High School Counselor Rachel Lacy tells News 25 that as technology continues to progress so does the importance of online safety. “The student has become the teacher in a lot of ways when it comes to technology. We want the parents to have the most up to date information.”
A study done by McAfee says that nearly 70 percent of teenagers hide online behavior from their parents.
