Gulfport PD raising awareness for breast cancer

The Gulfport Police Department is raising awareness for breast cancer in a unique way.

Two police cruisers from the department have been retro-fitted with pink decals including a pink ribbon on the hood. The cruisers will be available for showcase at community events and will also be used for regular patrols.

Sgt. James Griffin says the vehicles help grab the community’s attention on breast cancer issues. “It provides that ‘wow’ effect and understanding that the Gulfport Police Department also cares. Breast cancer strikes everyone. We all know someone who has been affected by it. So, by showing our support, we want the public to get out here and get checked early.”

If you would like one of the vehicles to be featured at an event contact Gulfport PD’s community affairs department at 228-868-5703.
