Today is National Teddy Bear Day and what better way to celebrate than by giving to a child in need?
It’s almost time for the tenth annual ‘Teddy Bears on Patrol Drive-Through.’ This yearly event is hosted by the North Bay Civitan Club of D’Iberville and St. Martin.
This project allows officers and other first responders the chance to take teddy bears and give them to youth who are involved in emergency situations. This year, the teddy bears will be donated to Harrison County Sheriff’s Office.
Club President Keith Wilson tells News 25 this event is held around the same time every year because it falls in the week of National Teddy Bear Day, the club’s chartering, and the anniversary of 9/11. “We decided to do something special for our local law enforcement and fire department. So, we chose Teddy Bears on Patrol. The first time we only had like 50, but it has grown over the years and we are really excited to continue this now, a decade later.”
The teddy bear drive-through will take place Saturday, September 14th from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Promenade Shopping Center. The club asks that you bring new or gently used stuffed animals. Look for the barricades behind Newk’s and AT&T.
