Residents of Jackson County enjoyed good company and good blues music as part of an annual festival on Saturday.
The Mississippi Gulf Coast Blues and Heritage Festival was held at the Jackson County Fairgrounds in Pascagoula and featured musicians and acts from across the state and the Coast including O.B. Buchanna and Perfect Mix.
MS Gulf Coast Blues Commission President Phyllis Owens says the festival and commission help to raise awareness of blues music to younger generations. “Our mission is to enlighten the younger children and keep the blues alive through them by giving scholarships or donations to help them to further their education, particularly when they are doing things that’s in the arts.”
