Attorneys and staff members for the Mississippi Center for Justice hosted a free legal clinic at the Knight Nonprofit Center in Gulfport.
The purpose of the clinic was for those who have served time for a crime, hoping to have the offense wiped off their record to land a good job.
Attorneys with the group were also on hand to provide legal advice on the following matters: foreclosure, expungement, and food security.
Consumer Protection Director for the Mississippi Center for Justice Charles Lee tells News 25, it is crucial residents took advantage of the opportunity to start a new chapter of their lives. “Part of our mission is to fight racial and economic injustice and we are dedicating ourselves to that task actually providing direct legal services to individuals in the community. We don’t have any income guidelines so anybody who has an issue can come and seek the service and receive it free of charge.”
