The Mississippi Women’s Economic Security Initiative hosted a Coffee Con to address issues regarding African-American women and equal pay.
This event at the Knight Nonprofit Center in Gulfport sparked a push to encourage conversations about issues impacting women in the United States.
There were great conversations about equal pay, economic security, affordable and quality healthcare and civic engagement. Coffee Con participant Dr. Yolanda Jerry said, “Being able to see all these things makes you wonder where do we need to go from here, knowing that conversations need to happen more often than not. Not only that, back in the day, I guess that was the norm in the industry for males or where it was mostly male dominated.”
