A new lead attorney is representing the family of Toussaint Diamon Sims, the man who was shot and killed by Moss Point police on August 8th.
Brian Dunn will be taking over the role as lead counsel on the case. Dunn works out of the Cochran Firm based in Los Angeles. He has worked on numerous high-profile police shooting cases across the country.
Dunn says that around 85 to 90 percent of his cases deal with police misconduct and the vast majority of those dealt with officer-involved shootings.
The involved officer and his attorney have seen the body cam footage from the night of the shooting, but the Sims family and their attorneys have not, something Dunn says is unprecedented. “I have never seen anything like this. There is an unprecedented situation here because you have a document which is going to definitively answer a lot of questions concerning what happened out there and concerning the last moments of Diamon’s life, but instead of showing us the document or instead of showing us the video, what we are seeing is a narrative of the video from someone who obviously has a leaning. He obviously has a bias.”
Dunn says he will be taking a deep look into the situation and the involved officer’s background.
