Have you always wanted to fight fires and help out your community as a first responder? Well, you may be in luck because the Biloxi Fire Department needs you to step up.
They are currently accepting applications. To push for more applicants at the station, they have started a new ‘ride along’ program so potentials can get a feel for the career. These ride alongs give riders a first-hand look at their everyday life.
Once you have submitted your application, it’s about a 48-hour turnaround to schedule your ride along.
These ride alongs are just one way the fire department is pushing for more applicants. Deputy Chief Nicholaus Geiser said, “It’s an effort that we’re putting forward to really show people what we do, especially young kids or younger adults that might be getting out of high school or college that don’t know what they want to do. It’s a very inclusive career to get into nowadays.”
If you are interested in the ride along program, there are applications at their headquarters at the Lopez-Quave Public Safety Center.
