A cold front in central Mississippi moving south will bring showers and t-storms this afternoon. With very little storm motion, efficient rain makers could dump a lot of rain leading to localized FLASH FLOODING.
Another issue could be the potential for downburst activity which could cause a few of the strongest thunderstorms to become severe with damaging winds being the primary hazard. A heat advisory continues for the interior counties to around the I-20 area until sufficient cloud coverage and rainfall drops this off.
The SPC has the area under a marginal risk for excessive rainfall and severe thunderstorm activity respectively.
