The 11th annual Anchor Awards honored businesses in the Jackson County community this morning and had a sold-out turnout.
These Anchor Awards are given out by the Jackson County Chamber of Commerce. They were created to honor, reward, and celebrate the achievements of outstanding small businesses and nonprofit organizations in the community.
There are four categories for recipients: business category one with less than 50 employees, business category two with 50 to 200 employees, rookie business for those that have been around for less than three years, and the nonprofit category.
There were a total of 33 nominees. Anchor Awards Chairman Shannon Van Duijvendiijk said, “We feel like it’s a really important event. It is an opportunity that we get to just celebrate small businesses in Jackson County. Without the Anchor Awards, we really don’t see a lot of chances to give those awards and that recognition to those businesses that have been working so hard.”
This year’s winners were Fletcher Construction Company, Chancellor INC., Baz Family Medical Clinic, and Dream Program INC.
