The family of Toussaint Diamon Sims and their attorney Carlos Moore held a press conference at Moss Point City Hall at 4 o’clock this afternoon.
In this press conference they expressed concern that they have not seen the body camera footage, but the officer’s attorney has.
Moore also informed the public of their intent to sue the city, the mayor, the police chief, and the officer involved.
They are seeking $10 million in damages for constitutional violations, gross negligence, and reckless disregard, among other things.
After the press conference the family held a sit in at the Moss Point City Hall. News 25 spoke to the family today who says they just want justice for their loved one. Lamiracle Sims said, “I am still heartbroken and I’m just devastated. I am afraid. I’m just shocked. My brother was my rock. He protected me and I am standing strong for him because he said Miracle, you are so strong right here, but so weak right here. I am just being as tough as I can for him. Like I said, I am just heartbroken and devastated and no one or nothing can fill the space in my heart.”
There will be another press conference tomorrow.
