Shaken, stirred, on the rocks or dry, anyway you want it, that’s the way you’ll get it at this year’s Martini Shakedown Saturday at the Beau Rivage.
They’ve been shaking it up for 15 years and it’s all to help a child’s dream come true. People as far as Florida and Louisiana are coming to this year’s event to participate in the cause and enjoy food from the Beau Rivage, live entertainment, and the silent auction.
Gulf Coast Make-A-Wish Foundation Director Shellie Moses says the goal is to help these kids forget about their illness and give them a chance to just be a kid. “Right now we’ve got just over 40 kids in South Mississippi waiting to have their one true wish granted. You figure there’s an average cost of $8,500 per kid so the funds needed are desperate. We like to grant a wish for a child every six months as far as the waiting time for a child. We don’t want them to wait any longer than that. Unfortunately, right now because of the demand, they’re waiting about 13 months.”
Moses says every year they raise more than $150,000. You can help increase that number by buying your tickets at shakedown.givesmart.com for $75 in advance or $100 at the door.
